Award-winning Actress Jen Hale Voices Playable Survivor in The Long Dark’s Early Access

Hinterland Studio has announced that when The Long Dark launches on Steam Early Access this Monday, September 22nd, players will be able to play as a female survivor “persona” with full voice-over from award-winning actress, Jennifer Hale.

Jennifer is best known for her voice work on major titles like the Mass Effect Trilogy (Commander Shepard), Metal Gear Solid 4 (Naomi Hunter), Halo 4 (Commander Sarah Palmer) and BioShock: Infinite (Rosalind Lutece), and has contributed her formidable talents to over 200 game, film, and television projects.

In addition to providing the voice for one of the Survivor personas in The Long Dark’s Survival Sandbox Mode, Jennifer will also play an unannounced major character in the game’s Story mode, to be revealed later this year.

“When the The Long Dark was first announced, I was blown away by the concept and the potential for incredible storytelling and startling challenges in this setting,” says Jennifer. “I’m thrilled to be able to be able to work this incredibly accomplished team that's creating such a stark, beautiful, survival simulation, and can’t wait for the fans to see what we have in store for them in the game’s Story mode.”

Jennifer has a long history of playing strong female characters, and we’re absolutely honoured to have her as part of our talented voice cast, which also includes Mark Meer, Elias Toufexis, and David Hayter.

In fact, as Jen is Canadian-born, a horsewoman, recreational climber, outdoor enthusiast, and emergency preparedness volunteer, the role of a capable survivor stranded in the Northern wilderness comes very naturally to her!

The Long Dark’s Survival Sandbox mode is launching on Steam Early Access on September 22nd. The team at Hinterland already has 12+ months of updates planned in the Roadmap, including ongoing development of the Sandbox mechanics and content, significantly increasing the Sandbox’s size by adding multiple new regions, Oculus Rift support, and of course, the Episodic Story Mode. Early Access players get the Sandbox, updates, and all future “Season One” story content included with their $19.99USD purchase.
