The Release of Ouya

OUYA hit store shelves yesterday (25th)! Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop, Target and GAME are some of the places where you can get one, OUYA.tv is the option for worldwide orders.

With over 170 games live at launch, 40 exclusives, more than 17,000 registered developers, OUYA is launching with more games than any other console in gaming history.

NRLB opinion:
Ouya is a gaming console like none other, it's much cheaper than the "competition", costing around 99£/99$, that alone might be enough to catch people's attention.
This radically different console promises a completely different idea when it comes to publishing titles, modding your console or playing your games. First, all the games presented to us on the Ouya store are required to have some sort of free-to-play capability, this combined with the cheap price of the console make it a great choice for people who don't want or can't spend a lot of money in their gaming consoles and games.
Second, you can open the hardware itself pretty easily, promises about mods and hardware add-ons are expected throughout the indie gaming community, expanding the Ouya capabilities by hand would be great!
Third and probably the most  important feature, every console can be used as a dev kit, allowing anyone to develop and publish their own games without any kind of licensing fees, the games will only have to follow a set of rules (estabilished by Ouya-the company) to be approved.
Here at NRLB we expect a lot from the revolutionary console, let's hope that it can deliver.
