Clobbr Preview

Did you ever felt like smacking a cat with a rock is way to easy? Do you want a bigger challenge? Then you should try Clobbr! With Clobbr you will have all the pleasures of throwing rocks at cats combined with the difficulty of timed puzzles! Amazing stuff!
This title comes from the (clearly wicked) minds of Portland based developer, Czarcade.

From the preview build that NRLB had access to, Clobbr will feature tons of timed puzzles where your goal is to bonk the very evil cat on the head. In order to do that you must cause a chain reaction that directs a boulder to your furry target.
When you consider that the only move you can actually execute is a horizontal swipe that dislocates the blocks for the aforementioned chain reaction to work, you might think Clobbr is a pretty easy game, you would be wrong. This is a title that eases you in and then smacks you in the face with super challenging puzzles, did I mention that you have a time limit to solve them? Oh yeah, get ready to feel like Forest Whitaker in Blown Away.

Thankfully the nice folks from Czarcade are more than just (very) wicked, they are also talented when it comes to game production values, even in this preview build everything is already super polished. The graphics for example are ultra charming, with a very cartoonish feel to them. The animations are smooth enough, watching the mice flee from the passed out cat at the end of each level is certainly a joy.

Ultimately, Clobbr is the sort of title that embraces the true concept of mobile gaming, by providing a quick mental stimulation to keep you distracted, it artificially shortens those annoying bus or train rides. Clobbr is great in short bursts and intuitive enough so that the player still remembers how to play it even if a week or month has passed from the last time the game was booted up.
This cat smacking title is set to come out during this summer for the Android, Ouya and iOS.
