Rayman Legends Review

So Rayman Legends, the game that originally was announced as a Wii U exclusive, made its way to a few other platforms, including the PC which is the version we will be taking a look at today.
While Nintendo fans might be a bit angry and bitter at Ubisoft for this move that clearly hurts the Wii U, other gamers on the other hand should be ecstatic, especially fans of platformers because Rayman Legends is probably the best game in that genre to be released in the last couple of years, the predecessor Origins was already very good, Legends feels a lot bigger a more refined, making it the better game in my opinion.

Legends tells the tale of Rayman and his friend Globox, apparently they've been sleeping for a very long time, something is wrong in the world of Legends so after being awakened by Murfy, they set off to save the princ... sorry, the world.
Obviously the plot has almost no importance, serving only as an excuse to make Rayman run around the 80+ levels that Legends offers (not counting the remastered levels brought back from Origins).

If you're one of the Nintendo fans that felt Rayman Legends should have continued an exclusive title you can rejoice in knowing that the Wii U version is by far the best one, Ubisoft clearly designed Legends with the Nintendo unique gamepad in mind and because of that the other versions suffer a bit from it, still, the PC version controls beautifully well.
Our armless hero is more agile than Ezio and more precise than Fisher, controlling Rayman is a near flawless experience indeed.
The developers also tried very hard to keep the player engaged by giving levels a lot of variety, running levels, shooting levels, swimming levels are to be expected and if you don't like a particular stage you can just skip it, Legends has a very loose and worry-free approach regarding the order you should tackle each level, as long as they're unlocked you can play them, saving the teensies scattered throughout the world is what unlocks new levels.
Aside from the huge array of levels and stages you also have some extra stuff to unlock, the aforementioned Origins levels, new characters and a monster museum of sorts are some of the extra features you can expect to find and unlock as you progress through the game.

Visually Legends is probably the best looking 2D game I have ever played, gorgeous and colorful backgrounds combined with animations that would put most cartoon television shows to shame just make this entry in the Rayman series a contender for best looking game of 2013.
Like the rest of the game, the soundtrack is also amazing, creative and at times super fun, yes, Eye of the Tiger has finally been remade in mariachi style thanks to Rayman Legends (check the trailer below).

Ubisoft continues to pump into the gaming market these amazing titles and is quickly becoming my favorite AAA game developer/publisher out there.
Much like SC:Blacklist (which we reviewed: Link), another Ubisoft title, Legends is packed full of content, promising to keep platformer fans busy for a very long time.
A shame that the multiplayer is not as expansive as in Blacklist, being limited to local play (at least in the PC version), still Legends deserves my full recommendation to any gamer out there.
